Maitland Walker's team of employment solicitors are experts in the field of employment law and act for a wide range of employees throughout London, Gloucestershire, Somerset and the M5 and M4 corridors servicing clients from our offices in London, Cheltenham, Bristol and Minehead.
Our advice often begins at the genesis of an employee's problems at work, placing the employee in the best tactical position and, should it be necessary, continues all the way to the conclusion of tribunals.
Our work covers non-contentious advice such as reviewing contracts of employment, directors service agreements, consultancy agreements and compromise agreements. We have gained a particularly high reputation for advising senior employees and directors on termination issues and negotiating favourable exit packages.
On the contentious side, we provide a full advice service for any employment or workplace dispute. We guide clients through the entire process, from raising a grievance or an appeal to lodging a claim: everything up to and including the hearing itself. We will deal with all aspects of the claim including drafting the claim, preparing for the hearing and providing representation and advocacy at the hearing itself.
We offer a wealth of procedural experience in Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal and High Court litigation and recognise the importance of working with our client to achieve their overall objective in the case, whether that is a swift resolution by way of a negotiated settlement or fighting the case to a judicial conclusion.
The department is headed up by Nick Rowe. Nick is listed by the Law Society as an expert in employment law.
We regularly advise clients in respect of the following:
- Unfair dismissals

Examples of our clients' feedback:
Adam Licudi, Professional Journalist
"I instructed Nick Rowe of Maitland Walker to fight my claim for unfair dismissal and unpaid holiday pay and from the moment I instructed him, I was impressed with his whole approach. He dealt with the aggressive conduct of the solicitors instructed by my employer in a resolute, robust and professional manner and assisted me in obtaining an excellent settlement agreement.
Nick was always sympathetic to the stressful situation that I found myself in and throughout his instruction, gave me enormous confidence both with his dealings with me and our opponents. Nick and the Maitland Walker team provided me with excellent service and very good commercial advice throughout and I would recommend them to anybody who finds themselves in similarly unfortunate circumstances."
Ian Jones, Senior Executive Manager
"Being a senior executive manager, my exit from my employer required considered and skilled assistance. Having dealt with Nick Rowe before, I had no hesitation instructing him to deal with my compromise agreement. Nick and his team negotiated a "cracking" conclusion and almost doubled the package originally offered to me by my employer. Nick is a quite excellent solicitor with a superb commercial approach and it is clear to me that he is supported by an equally impressive team."
