Partner / John Clarke

John Clarke previously headed the education and employment teams at Bevan Brittan LLP and Rickerbys LLP, before joining Maitland Walker in 2009. John has a national reputation for his employment law expertise, particularly in the independent school sector where he is described as “concise and extremely user friendly”. John’s experience advising major education clients, ranging from Universities to modest prep schools, includes all aspects of governance, charity law, pupil and staff issues and employment disputes.

In addition John has a wealth of experience acting for private companies and owner managed businesses, advising on all aspects of employment law ranging from mergers and acquisitions to working time and employment disputes, including many successful appearances defending employers in the employment tribunal.

John writes and lectures widely on education and employment issues and he substantially strengthens our commercial and employment teams.
