Emily is a Partner in the private client department in our Minehead office who has more than 13 years of experience in the field. She advises on all aspects of estate administration (including the administration of ongoing trusts), inheritance and succession planning, the preparation of wills and powers of attorney and making applications to the Court of Protection.

About

Emily is a full member (TEP) of  the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She has also completed the Mountbatten Internship Programme in New York (whilst undertaking a Certificate in International Business via University of Cambridge International Examinations) and holds an LLB (Honours) English Law with French Law (including a French Law Licence from Savoie University in France in collaboration with the ERAMUS programme).

Emily is able to breakdown and explain complex legal concepts for clients in a clear and straightforward way. She is also known for her personable manner and her ability to manage her matters so that they run smoothly and efficiently (from both a costs and a taxation/compliance perspective).

Experience

Her experience includes:

  • Administering complex estates with agricultural, commercial and multi-jurisdictional aspects;
  • Lifetime estate planning with agricultural, commercial and multi-jurisdictional aspects;
  • Creating trusts in wills including bare trusts, 18-25 trusts, life interest trusts, discretionary trusts and trusts for the vulnerable;
  • Creating trusts in lifetime including declarations of trust and trusts for the vulnerable;
  • Advising about lasting powers of attorney for clients with commercial interests (specific business lasting powers of attorney); and
  • Making applications to the Court of Protection, including trust applications and applications involving commercial interests.
