Wider general permitted development rules will apply from 06 April 2016
The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) (Amendment) Order 2016 comes into force on 6 April 2016.
The 2016 Order amends the GPDO 2015 and includes the following changes which will allow certain commercial buildings to be converted to residential use:
- the existing temporary right to change a building used as an office into residential use is made permanent
- a temporary right is created to change a building in light industrial use to residential use subject to the making of an application for prior approval
- the right to change a building used as a launderette to residential use
