Joe Siman

Joe specialises in competition and commercial law. Joe’s particular areas of expertise include competition law, judicial review in planning cases, intellectual property, procurement and the new state aid and subsidy regime. He has acted in cases before both the Competition Appeal Tribunal and the High Court.
Joe is a strategic thinker and operational realist who ascertains his clients’ aims quickly and implements them effectively in high pressure scenarios.
Joe was previously the EU Merger correspondent for the “European Competition Law Review” published by Sweet & Maxwell.

• Representing Class Representatives in a Collective Action involving rail ticketing rules
• Acting for the defendant in a Company Directors Disqualification Act claim by the CMA
• Case 1344/1/12/20 Lexon (UK) Limited v Competition and Markets Authority – acting for the appellant in a decision appeal against the CMA
• Part of the competition law team advising a pharmaceutical trade association
• Represented a Midlands property developer in two Judicial Review applications arising out of planning applications in the North West
• Advising public bodies on the application of state aid or the post-Brexit subsidy regime
