Our Community

We recognise that our staff are at the centre of our business

We also recognise that as a business we have an important role to play in contributing to and supporting the  communities in which are are based.

We take active measures to support our staff and to ensure that they are appreciated

Through work arrangements including flexible working, pension contributions and bonus schemes to the 'smaller' things like teambuilding and social events, coffees from the local coffee shop or the odd lunchtime treat.

Most importantly, however, each staff member is a valued member of the team and encouraged to participate in company initiatives outside of their immediate remit.
We offer support and training to progress our staff in their careers, actively encouraging personal development and listening to new ideas.

We support our local and wider community wherever possible.

At any one time we have a chosen charity that we actively support with fundraising events.  Our current charity is St Margaret’s Hospice. Our wills team regularly participate in free will initiatives and run a regular free legal clinic aimed directly at supporting rural communities.

Our commercial property team regularly conducts pro bono work for local charities and community projects. Our community initiatives are regularly reviewed to ensure that we remain active and responsive to the needs of our community.

We listen to our community and involve ourselves where we can from sponsoring local sports clubs to personal charitable challenges.

Sustainability

It is important to us at Maitland Walker to ensure that we operate as sustainably as we can. Our policies are kept under regular review to ensure that we are current and active.

We support our staff to operate sustainably by offering measures such as the cycle to work scheme and EV car schemes and providing EV charge points at both offices.

We have a sustainability policy aimed to positively reduce our carbon footprint including paperless work policies to reduce paper waste, ensuring the use of recycling systems for both confidential and non-confidential paper waste, and reducing travel by encouraging and facilitating online video meetings wherever possible. We keep our policy under constant review to ensure that we maximise our opportunity to reduce our footprint.
