Sheree-Ann Virgin

Partner

Sheree-Ann is a Partner and leads the Litigation & Dispute Resolution team in our Taunton office. She specialises in all types commercial litigation with particular expertise in competition and EU law related litigation, intellectual property litigation and professional negligence claims. Sheree-Ann also advises on non-contentious corporate and commercial matters, providing strategic legal support to a wide range of clients. She plays a key role in the firm’s opt-out collective actions and has acted for many of the firm's key corporate clients across the pharmaceutical, transport, leisure and public sectors, advising in complex and high value disputes.

About

Sheree-Ann joined the firm in October 2009. She holds a BA in Jurisprudence from Jesus College, University of Oxford (2006), and completed the Legal Practice Course at Plymouth University in 2008. In 2014, she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in EU Competition Law from King’s College London. Sheree-Ann was admitted as a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 2013 and brings 12+ years of post qualification experience to her role.

Outside of work, Sheree-Ann enjoys nothing more than escaping to the beach at the weekend.

Experience

Sheree-Ann has extensive experience across the full spectrum of commercial litigation, having advised on hundreds of disputes since joining the firm. Her caseload spans a wide range of industries and legal issues, with notable matters including:

  • acting with Adrian Render in the Govia Thameslink Railway collective action;
  • successfully defending The Royal Berkshire Polo Club Limited and others in  trademark infringement proceedings brought by Lifestyle Equities C.V. and another in connection with the BEVERLY HILLS POLO CLUB trademark (see here for successful first instance decision and the associated and successful appeal decision here);
  • acting for Rest & Play Footwear Limited in its claim before the Competition Appeal Tribunal against George Rye & Sons Limited (see here);
  • representing a large group of UK commercial purchasers in a follow-on damages claim arising from the LCD Cartel;
  • acting for South American purchaser in a follow-on damages claim against participants in the Marine Hose Cartel;
  • acting for Addison Lee in its high profile dispute with Transport for London over allegedly discriminatory polices favouring black cabs;
  • representing over 90 claimants based in South East Asia in a cross-border professional negligence action relating to failed property investments;
  • acting for parallel importers of pharmaceutical products in major litigation involving allegations of intellectual property infringement by pharmaceutical manufacturers (see article relating to trademark infringement case here and judgment of the European Court relating to patent infringement case here);
  • handling a significant professional negligence dispute against a large South West law firm; and
  • managing numerous lease renewal disputes for a major client operating from over 150 UK commercial properties.

On the non-contentious side,  Sheree-Ann advises the firm’s pharmaceutical clients on European trade law and issues surrounding the parallel importation of pharmaceutical products.
