Katie joined Maitland Walker in 2024 and is part of our growing wills, trusts and estate administration (private client) team based in our Taunton Office.

About

Katie has over 15 years of experience assisting clients with their wills, lasting powers of attorney and estate administration. Katie has a law degree from the open university and after taking her post graduate legal practice course, began practise as a paralegal. Katie is a graduate member of Cilex (Institute of Chartered Legal Executives).

Katie has always lived in Taunton and has worked predominantly for firms based in and around the local area.  Her years of experience have given her the ability to deal with legal matters in a kind, approachable manner whilst providing clear, practical and accurate guidance and advice.

Katie is married with 3 children – who like to keep her busy.  In those rare quieter moments, Katie enjoys gardening, baking, art projects and exploring the area, preferably with a picnic.

Experience

Her experience includes:

  • Preparation of Wills, both simple and complex which are tailored to the client’s needs.
  • Preparation of lasting powers of attorney, providing support and guidance to both donors and attorneys.
  • Dealing with the administration of estates ranging from modest to generous sizes.
  • Making grant applications for estates where there is a will (grant of probate) and also where there is no will (instate estates) (grant of letters of administration).
  • Deputyship applications.
  • Declarations of trust relating to shared ownership of properties.
