Kerry has over 20 years professional experience working in the field of private client and qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Legal Executives (FCILEx)  in 2009 whilst working for a Legal 500 firm of solicitors in Surrey.  She then relocated to Somerset in 2011 where she established and ran her own successful business in Minehead, Caring Legal Services for 7 years before joining Maitland Walker in 2019.

About

Kerry enjoys her work in the Private Client Department.  She has a natural aptitude for working with older and vulnerable clients, at what can often be challenging times in their lives.  Her friendly, personable character and her legal experience enable her to put clients at ease and to address in clear terms, the options available to them, taking account of their individual requirements.

Kerry has a strong connection with D-Day and maintains her family’s link to Pegasus Bridge in Normandy.  She enjoys travel, history, Formula 1 and exploring the local area on her E-bike.

Experience

Her experience includes:

  • Preparation of wills, both simple and complex
  • Preparation of lasting powers of attorney for property & financial affairs and health & care
  • Advice on estate administration following a death
  • Advice on estate planning and inheritance tax
  • Making deputyship applications to the Court of Protection
  • Acting as an attorney on behalf of clients
  • Assisting older and vulnerable clients with their personal affairs

Kerry is an affiliate member of the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and anticipates applying to STEP for full membership early next year.  She is also an accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).
