Remortgaging or Mortgaging is the process of paying off your existing mortgage and taking out a new mortgage with a different lender, or securing finance on your home to release equity.

Most homeowners remortgage to secure a better mortgage rate and save money on repayments, others may want to borrow more to receive a lump sum for home improvements or to consolidate debts.

We can offer expert advice to ensure that the remortgage proceeds as smoothly and quickly as possible. We will act for you and your lender to ensure that the old mortgage is repaid and the new mortgage is registered at the Land Registry.

Equity Release

An equity release, or lifetime mortgage, is a loan that is secured against your property which doesn’t need to be repaid during your lifetime.

Instead, interest accrues each year but this just increases the total debt that will be repaid on your death. Equity Release mortgages are more complicated than the usual household mortgage and the lender normally insists that you obtain your own, independent legal advice separate to the lender.
